YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!

FIVE O CLOCK IN THE MORNING AND SO SO SO RELIEVED.

-------------------------------------------

Edit: 5:30am: Mostly respectful concession speech from John McCain, appropriately done, given his ideals and politics and sense of honor. I do, however, really wish that he and the media would stop emphasizing the color of Obama's skin so much - yes, it's quite important for history, but the fact that he was elected not because of or inspite of his skin color but rather aside from it, that he was elected for his logic, skills, beliefs, policy ideas and hope, among other things, is a truly respectable thing. Media, don't degrade what happened by only focusing on his skin color, please.

6:30am: As for President-Elect Barack Obama... I am so very proud to be an American. And I am thankful. He's just a man, not a miracle-worker like many make him out to be, and it will be a disaster into which he is stepping, but I think he will do the better job. Let us see. At this moment, I feel like Mary Martin in Peter Pan, singing "I've Gotta Crow". I don't know how much the sleeping Italians would appreciate me doing so, though. I'll just continue to be happy inside.

I actually shed a tear when I heard Obama's speech...it was so beautifully put. And I feel the same...for the first time in 8 years, I'm actually proud to be an American!

You wouldn't believe the amount of outrage down here in North Carolina, though. I've heard people use some disgusting racial slurs and even overheard one guy say, "Now I know what John Wilkes Boothe felt like." ...can you believe that? The whole world is rejoycing except for these stupid racist hicks. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm happy that you voted dispite your being across the Atlantic...my roommate couldn't manage to figure out how an absentee ballot worked (...yeeeeahhhh...) and ended up not voting. Rawr.

I MISS YOU E!!!!!!!!!! <3
